Welcome everyone to our Library!

  1. Good news! We have new computers at our library!! Now any student will be able to take the “Reading Practice Quiz” of our “Accelerated Reader” program in any of these computers! No more waiting in line!!

    For those of you who are new to Salem, this program will allow students to test themselves on their reading comprehension level.

    Thanks to the participation of the 8th grade “buddies”, we will even “test drive” Kindergarteners with the “Read to” version of the program.

    We encourage every student to participate!!

    All quiz results provide homeroom teachers with key information to better determine each student’s particular reading needs and orient them in the right direction to become better readers.

    Each student will have a personal goal to be achieved during the course of each quarter. They will use goal charts in which they will track their personal achievements. They will also receive incentives when reaching 80% or more on their quizzes results and also when they reach their goals.

    And let see how many books can we read!!!!

  2. Students will start to check out books on their second week of school.

    Pk4 and Kinder can check out only 1 book, 1st through 5th will check out 2 books. Books are due on or before the following library day (students must return the books on the due date if they want to renew the same book). 5 cents per day will be assessed as late fees. For lost or damaged books, the late fees and the cost of the book must be paid in full.

  3. Two “Book Fairs” will be held during the school year. You’ll receive more information when the dates are fixed. These fairs promote the passion for books among the children and help our library by adding new titles.
  4. Our library also participates in programs such as “BOX TOPS”, “Labels for education from Campbell”, “Cash for Schools from Community Coffee” and “Tyson Project A+”. Please collect and bring all these labels to your library. We will submit them for cool material even cash for our school!!
